Vidar Bottelsen - this is your life.

Vidar Bottelsen -who was that.

This is a little blog of what I have gleaned from the records about Vidar Bottelsen.

Vidar Christian Bottelsen, born 20th of April, 1873, to Bernt Andreas Bottelsen, and Ida Kristine Ehn in Christiania, Norway. Both his parents were actors. Unfortunatly, Ida's acting carrier ended with the birth of Vidar, as she passed away the day after he was born, in child birth fever. This may also have been the ending of Bernts acting carrier. He became the overcontroller at the Kristiania Theater.

19 years old, he left Norway in 1892 on the ship Hekla, He came through Ellis Island, and settled in the Chicago area.

Two year later, in 1894, his dad, Bernt Andreas, passed away.

He lived in the Chicago 14th Ward in 1900, during the 1900 census, lodging with the Dahl family.

Vidar found himself a girl, Anna P., whom he later married. She was also of Norwegian decent. If they knew eachother in Norway, have yet to be determined. She was a year older then him.

They became parents of Vivian Bottelsen the 19th of October 1910. If she had any children, have yet to be determined. She did however pass away in 7th of November, 1997 using her maiden name, Bottelsen.

This is his 1910 census record.

He was on the draft record for the 1917/18 draft.

Here is the 1920 census record. They called him Vidar Bottelson in this census, but I found him anyway.

The last census that have been releast is the 1930 census. He was called Vidar Battelsen in this census, but even with that spelling did I find him.

He must be alive still, for I could not find a death record for him in the Social Security Death Index. (If that was the case, he would be about 135 years old by now).

Family history file updated.

The last couple of days, there have been lots of names added to, and updates on, so it was time to update the family file too.

Just to mention a few, Anna Guldbrandsen's siblings, parents, and granparents have been found and added. Anna Guldbrandsen was married to Harald Bottelsen, and the mother of Frida Bottelsen, who was the last on living on that branch of the family tree.

Another edition, is more information on Vidar Bottelsen, who was the son of Bernt Andreas Bottelsen, who was the brother of Arne Bottelsen.

Sad and Happy News

I have been consentrating lately on trying to find any living Bottelsens in Norway. And a few days ago, I got some news that made me think I was on the lead to someone. I have been looking for Frida Bottelsen and her possible living family. I did not think there was any chance to find Frida alive now, as she would have been 107 years old now if she was alive. But if she had any children, they could be anything from about 80 and younger. Anyway, Frida is the daugther of Harald Bottelsen, who is the son of Andreas Martin Bottelsen, the Goldsmith. Harald Bottelsen was married to Anna Bottelsen, born Guldbrandsen.

I knew that Frida had moved to Oslo, but I did not know if it was to get married or if she just wanted a change in her life. A few days ago, I got some information that lead me to think that Frida had got married, or had by chance had a girl named Anna Marie that she lived with, as she lived at the same address in Oslo, in the "Addressebok for Oslo" (Adressbook for Oslo) 1968-69 edition, but only Frida was there in the 1973-74 edition. My heart leaped, and I was thinking that Anna Marie had got married and that there was some young Bottelsen, mostlikely with a different lastname, somewhere in Norway

But this morning, my heart sunk, when I realised that Anna Marie mostlikely was Frida's mom, that came to live with Frida after her husband, Harald died, and she became alittle older.

That is the sad news... that there most likely is no further family after Frida.

The Happy news is that in looking up Frida's christening records, I took a closer look on the godparents, and found some leads on who Anna Marie's parents may be. And in the process of following that lead, I found
Anna Marie's parents: Christine and Bookbinder Johan Guldbrandsen
Anna Marie's 5 siblings
Johan Guldbrandsen's father: Beerbrewer Ole Guldbrandsen and his wife Ingebor
and
all 11, yes that is ELEVEN of Johan Guldbrandsen's siblings.
That is 20 - TWENTY - new relatives in one morning.

But,
we will still see if there is any more information the Official State People Registry of Norway have , when they write me back at their convenience.

Two ways to look at Family charts

A new Gedcom fil have been uploaded, and a new way to look at the family history file and the way to access the family tree. The new way is found clicking this link http://runelarsen.99k.org/phpgedview/

This is a new innovating way to look at the family tree, more like the way most family history software presents the data, but makes a more simple view online. I hope you like it.

Bottelsen family lives on

I talked to my niese Marte, early this morning, and we got into the topic of Bottelsen and she said that there are some kids in her school with the name Bottelsen. So the youngest Bottelsen seem to again be named Frida Bottelsen. It's the younger sister in that group of kids. But if there is a family connection, well, that is to early to determine yet.

New Bottelsen Found

Exciting news!!

The last person in Norway with the last name Bottelsen may have Frida Bottelsen, but she may not be the last in the family line. I received this morning a mail from Øystein Eike, with the following information;

"Jeg har gjort noen oppslag på Bottelsen i noen adressebøker fra 1960- og 70-tallet. I adresseboka for 1963-64 står Frida Bottelsen oppført med adresse Ekebergveien 162 sammen med Anna Marie Bottelsen. De to står også i adresseboka for 1968-69, da som hhv. frk. og fru., og på adressen Seterhøybakken 1. I 1973-74 står Frida Bottelsen alene, på samme adresse. Det er siste årgangen der noen Bottelsen er oppført."

Translated to English, that says;
"I have done some searches on the name Bottelsen in address books from the 60's and 70's. In the address book for 1963/64 is Frida registed with address Ekebergveien 162 with Anna Marie Bottelsen. They are also listed in the1968/69, then as ms and mrs, with address Seterhøybakken 1. In the 1973/74 edition is Frida alone, on the same address. That is the last year there is any Bottelsen listed."

There are now a couple of new questions that remains. Did Frida die, get married, or move away from the Olso area between 1968 and 1973? We also have to find out what happened to Frida in 1974.
